Attitude in Rock Guitar

Ah the Sex Pistols. Quintessential raw punk rock. I find so much of that adrenaline missing in today's music. You can quickly separate the guitar players who emote on stage and deliver as powerful an emotional as musical performance from those who just noodle around. I love good Punk music because good Punk music is pure. It's unfiltered raw emotional musicianship. Anyway I found a great guy on the ubiquitous youttube that demonstrates some songs from the greatest punk band ever so grab your guitar and check it out:

Beginner's Guitar - Major Scale Exercise

Here's a major scale exercise in the key of G using only the third string. It is played with alternate picking and using eighth notes. The guitar is tuned down a half step. The exercise has two parts. In the first section the pattern the guitar plays is based on a scale fragment that ascends the neck and then descends. The second pattern use a primarily descending lick. All the notes played are natuarl notes execpt the F# on the 11th fret which is the only sharp in the G Major Scale.

One finger rock

Ok for the record I don't play this guitar riff but you could if you wanted to. It's tuned to drop D which means the 6th string is tuned down to match the D note on the fourth string. I also tune the whole guitar down an additional half step if you decide to play along. The rhythm is triplet based so there are three notes per beat. I use all downstrokes and palm muting for a heavier sound.
